Supported files and limits

Supported files
One Word file (.docx)
You get
One JPG or PNG image per page (several pages: a ZIP)
File size
Up to 100MB per file
Good to know
  • The old format (.doc) can't be converted. Save it as “Word Document (.docx)” in Word first.
  • Text in the images can't be selected or edited. To keep the text, use Word to PDF.

When you need Word as an image

  • Posting a flyer, notice or menu made in Word on Instagram, X or LINE
  • Sending a document to someone who reads it on a phone without Word
  • Adding a page to slides, a website or a blog post
  • Uploading to a form that only accepts images

Word itself can’t save a document as JPG, so you’d usually take a screenshot. This tool saves every page at once, at the resolution you choose.

JPG or PNG?

For most uses, JPG is fine: the files are small, so they’re easy to send and post. Choose PNG when the text must be as sharp as possible, for example small print or tables.

Choosing the resolution

The resolution sets how many pixels each page gets. Higher is sharper, but the files get bigger. For an A4 page:

Image size of an A4 Word page at each resolution
ResolutionA4 page sizeBest for
Low (72 dpi)About 595 × 842 pixelsViewing on a phone, small file sizes
Standard (150 dpi)About 1240 × 1754 pixelsSocial media, LINE, slides, most uses
High (300 dpi)About 2480 × 3508 pixelsPrinting, zooming in on small text

About layout

Pages follow the page breaks set in Word. Fonts your device doesn’t have are replaced with similar ones, so line breaks and spacing may differ slightly from Word. Check the preview before converting.

To stop phones from running out of memory, very large pages (such as A3 at 300 dpi) are made slightly smaller.

Converting Word to JPG on iPhone and Android

No app is needed. Open this page in Safari or Chrome and pick a Word file from Files or an email attachment.

On iPhone, downloaded images go to the Files app (Downloads). To add one to Photos, open it and tap Share → Save Image. A ZIP opens in Files with a tap. On Android, images go to the Downloads folder and show up in your gallery app.

Other ways to turn Word into an image

  • Screenshot: quick for one page, but the image is only as sharp as your screen, and you have to crop it.
  • Word to PDF, then PDF to JPG: gives the same result in two steps. Useful if you need a PDF too.
  • Online converters: most upload your file to their servers. This tool converts it in your browser without uploading it.

Your files are never uploaded

Your Word file isn’t uploaded to a server; the pages are drawn and saved as images in your browser. Documents with personal or business information are never sent anywhere.
